MONTROSE - The Montrose County Re-1J School District  and the Montrose County Health and Human Services are using all of their means to prevent the H1N1 virus from spreading, by offering free flu shots to students and approved faculty in the district.

Four weeks ago, 15 percent of all students in the district were out sick and reported symptoms of the H1N1 virus. The number has gone down drastically recently, with currently less than 1 percent of all students in the district out with flu-like symptoms. However, Montrose County School District Re-1J Risk Manager Barbara Hunt said she thought it was still important to be aware and take precaution against the virus, as the stomach flu and H1N1 are most popular in the winter.
