MMH Web-based network for patient records goes online By Kati O’HareDaily Press Writer Memorial Hospital’s new Web-based network is now online ” a move toward making “chart chasing” a thing of the past. Tuesday, area health care providers came together to see exactly how the Quality Health Network, or QHN, will speed up services, save money and provide a safer way of handling patient records. “Basically, as we connect to physicians (MMH must give them access to the system), each patient’s physician should have electronic results from other physicians. There is no tracking down information. It’s all there waiting for them,” said Mike Lloyd, MMH’s QHN project coordinator. The network allows authorized users, through account and password security, to access records on a patient that’s been stored by others using the system. Information includes lab results, emergency room notes, progress reports, radiology and surgical information. It also connects with pharmacies, allowing doctors to review past prescriptions, so not to duplicate or complicate medications, as well as putting a tighter watch on prescription abuse. ””” For the full story, see today's print edition.
