OLATHE ” With all other options exhausted, the Montrose County Housing Authority has put the Olathe Farm Dormitory up for sale as part of a prepayment option with USDA Rural Development.

“We’ve been trying to solve the problem of high vacancy out there and the only alternative that we haven’t explored is a prepayment option,” said Tim Heavers, executive director of the housing authority.

Under the prepayment option, Rural Development requires that the authority list the dorm for sale to any non-profits or government entities for no less than 180 days. That listing started Sept. 17 and the asking price is $676,050.
