Fred ‘YAC’ Yacovetta

September 10, 1952  -  August 12, 2008

MONTROSE — Fred “Yac” Yacovetta went to be with the Lord Aug. 12, 2008 after a short battle with cancer. He was 55.

Fred was born September 10, 1952 to Fred and Patricia (Meagher) Yacovetta in Denver, Colorado. He spent his childhood and went to school in Denver, until he joined the United States Army on June 30, 1971. He served in the Army for three years, he was honorably discharged on July 10, 1974. Fred was extremely proud he was able to serve his country.

After leaving the Army, Fred went into the construction business and mastered the art of cement finishing. It was at this time he met the love of his life Dana. He and Dana were married on Feb. 25, 1981 and were soon blessed with two children , Frederick and Samantha Yacovetta, whom he loved with all his heart.

Yac was an avid Oakland Raiders fan. He thoroughly enjoyed all that Colorado had to offer, he loved to go fishing and camping with his family. Family was the most important thing to him.

Yac is survived by his wife Dana, of 27 years, two sons Fred and Shane Yacovetta, and one daughter Samantha Gene and grandson Bradley. He is further survived by his brother Pete (Patty) Sonner, sister Judy (Rich) Capra, in-laws Leroy and Anita Jiron, sister in-law Lori (Robert) Deines, brother in-law Curtis (Lean) Jiron, and Todd (Lisa) Jiron, two aunts and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and brother, Joseph Yacovetta.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A visitation for Fred was held Friday evening, Aug. 15, 2008 at 5 p.m. at the Valley Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a Vigil service. A funeral service in honor of Fred will be held Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Valley Lawn Funeral Home. Internment will follow at the Olathe Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in the name of Fred Yacovetta may be made to Wells Fargo Bank.
