Bertha L. Manzanares

MONTROSE — Bertha L. Manzanares, age 88, of Montrose, went to our Heavenly Father, Friday evening, Aug. 1, 2008 at her home in Montrose. Bertha was born Aug. 10, 1919 in Conejos, Colo. to Fidel and Frances Jiron.  She loved to cook and spend time with her family. Bertha enjoyed working in her garden and growing flowers. She enjoyed shopping at Walmart and watching cowboy movies with her son, Bobby.

Bertha is survived by her seven children, Tony Jiron and wife Sally, of Montrose; Viola Arnone and husband Tony of Farmington, N.M.; Bobby Manzanares and wife Rachel of Pueblo, Colo.; Betty Chacon of Farmington; Chris Manzanares and wife Cecelia of Santa Fe Springs, Calif.; Bertha Manzanares of Montrose; and Jerry Manzanares of Montrose, who lived with our loving mother all his life; 19 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and one loving nephew, Leroy Jiron, of Montrose. Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, Chris Manzanares, two grandsons, Chris Manzanares Jr., Rex Bramwell; and one granddaughter, Kimberly Chacon.

A Vigil for Bertha, followed by a Rosary will be held on Monday evening, Aug. 4, 2008 at 7 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008 at 1 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow the Mass at Grand View Cemetery, Montrose. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home, 802 E. Main, Montrose, CO. (970) 249-2121.
