H. Daryl Quandt H. Daryl Quandt RIDGWAY — H. Daryl Quandt, 69, of Ridgway, Colo., passed away on the evening of Feb. 20, 2008 due to complications from polymyositis. A Navy veteran and graduate of San Diego State University, Daryl moved his family to Ridgway in 1977 as a partner in the Sunset Restaurant and Motel. Along with his wife, Pat, he successfully ran the Sunset until their retirement in 2002; but even in retirement, he remained a much beloved and active member of the Ridgway community. Daryl was well known for his keen wit and intellect, and will also be remembered as an avid outdoorsman, classic car and motorcycle enthusiast, mentor, friend, and deeply devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Pat, also of Ridgway; son, Jon (fiancée, Mary) of Louisa, Va.; daughters, Felicia (son-in-law, Michael), of Mancos, and Andrea (son-in-law, Kraig) of Wasilla, Alaska.; five grandchildren, Jefferson and Jillian Quandt, Cody Canzona, and Kenton and Kayla Berg; sister, Geraldine of Pampa, Texas; and numerous extended friends and family throughout the Ouray and Montrose County, Colo. area. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to a memorial fund that has been established in his name with proceeds to benefit The Myositis Association.
