Kerry Grant Wollert

MONTROSE — Kerry Grant Wollert was born July 1, 1958 to Vernon E. and Mildred B. Wollert in Lamar, Colo. He attended school at Wiley Consolidated Schools, graduating high school in 1976. Kerry was an exceptional athlete, receiving All-State and All American honors as well as Colorado Lineman of the Year.

After high school Kerry spent most of his adult life as a building contractor in Arizona and Colorado. He finished his years with his brother at Wollert GMC in Montrose, Colo., where he made numerous acquaintances who became friends of his for the remainder of his life.

Kerry enjoyed hunting, fishing and the sport of rodeo after his high school years up until the day of his departure. He won many team roping events and enjoyed everyone’s fellowship through the years.

Kerry was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Wollert, both paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather. Kerry is survived by his three children, Lindsay Wollert of Canyon, Texas, Grant Wollert of Lamar, Colo., and Krissa Eggert of Denver, Colo.; his mother, Mildred B.W. Scherzer of Del Norte, Colo.; his brothers, Gary (Jeanette) Wollert of Sheridan Lake, Colo., Mike (Gretchen) Wollert of Lingle, Wyo., Rick Wollert of Lamar, Colo., Mark (Kathy) Wollert of Delta, Colo., and Kent (Cheryl) Wollert of Olathe, Colo.; his sisters, Gaylynn (Gary) Robinson of Springfield, Mo., Jo (Terry) Weimer of Wiley, Colo., and Dawn Klipfel of Glen Rose, Texas. Kerry is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as his maternal grandmother, Ethel Stout of Wiley, Colo., and his fiancee, Laurel Corso of Olathe, Colo.

Kerry went to join the Lord on Feb. 16, 2008 at 7:20 a.m. in Montrose, Colo. Kerry’s untimely death was the result of injuries sustained from an ATV accident on Aug. 19, 2007. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Montrose Christian Church. The service will conclude at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Craig Hospital Foundation, In memory of Kerry Wollert, 3425 S.
