MONTROSE — First Lady Jeannie Ritter will be in Montrose Thursday, to promote education and mental health issues in the area.

Ritter will attend the Montrose Suicide Prevention Coalition meeting at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Ute Indian Museum. From 11:25 to noon, she will tour the Open Arms Empowerment Center, an ASPEN Diversified Vocational Program at 510 S. Second St. in Montrose.

An informal session with 30 community members and mental health experts will be held from noon to 1:45 p.m. This is intended to give Ritter a better sense of mental health-related issues on the Western Slope.
